Certificate in Specific Learning Disabilities

A 75 hour, NZQA accredited course
Week 1 Monday 3rd March to Friday 7th
Week 2 Dates to be finalised for late March or early April.

Course content:    
The course is designed to give an increased understanding of the learning needs of students with Specific Learning Difficulties, especially Dyslexia. While it will provide classroom teachers with ways of recognising SLD students and strategies to better meet their needs, the emphasis will be on equipping teachers to design and implement an individualised teaching programme based on a SPELD Assessment of Specific Learning Disabilities.

A certificate is awarded after satisfactory attendance and completion of the three written assignments.

A SPELD NZ Practising Certificate is achieved after working with two SPELD students for approximately 40 hours and submitting evidence of planning, re-assessment and professional development activities.
