Tino pai – well done former SPELD NZ student Nathan Moore who recently graduated with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the Ara Insitute of Canterbury.
Nathan’s mother, Leonie Moore, says she and her husband, Ben, are incredibly proud of Nathan. “He worked so hard – more so than fellow students – and had an A average right through the degree at ARA,” says Leonie. “Words can’t express how grateful we are to his SPELD teacher, Isobel Fanshawe, for her amazing tutoring of Nathan over the years. He loved going to Isobel’s home to do his SPELD lessons as he could see as he got older how much it helped him.

He worked so hard – more so than fellow students.
Our thanks to SPELD too, an amazing organisation helping kids like Nathan who would otherwise have been totally left out in achieving in education.”
Nathan scooped several awards during his studies: The Eke Pānuku Māori Achievement Award in Architecture, the Te Puna Wānaka Community Engagement Award and the Architecture and Architectural Designers NZ Design Technology Award. Nathan’s love of carving in his spare time and Māori tikanga/practice were incorporated into his final architectural project at ARA’s EXIT Exhibition (pictured).
Nathan aims to become a registered architect. He is currently doing a Master of Architecture at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
Noho ora mai – go well Nathan!
